Tom Cruise Goes to Nazi Germany.
<<< In the beginning of Valkyrie, the movie more or less referred to as "the Tom
Cruise Nazi Movie", somebody told the lead to go through with the plot to kill Hitler even
if he knew it wasn't going to be successful just so the world would know that not every
German was bad.
Well it's over a half century later and pretty much everybody thinks every German was
bad. Until now. At least if the $198, 000,000 worldwide gross is any indicator.
So now we know there are good Germans and bad Germans. Heretofore,
Somebodyisfromhere.com has only concerned himself with drinking Germans.
But what a way to find out.
Valkyrie was directed by Bryan Singer who first pushed suspense to the edge with The
Usual Suspects. His mostly British cast of Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, and Tom
Wilkinson makes Tom Cruise's American accent stick out a bit, but is probably unfair to
judge. For better or worse his acting is the same as it ever was.
The accents shouldn't be an issue here, instead the issue is that this story is simply worth knowing.
The hindrance, of course, is that we all know how it ends. So how does Singer do it?
He builds the story the way the Mission: Impossibles should have been built. They set up the goal. They set up the road
blocks. They show what needs to be done. They have at it.
The movie is good however, because Somebodyisfromhere.com can't stop thinking about it. Sure, it may not be the best
movie of the year, but it's important to know how close they were.
With new content weekly, Somebodyisfromhere.com takes a look at travel albeit from the perspective of somebody who probably watched a little too much TV as a kid (or yesterday). The site doubles as a venue in which you can share stories or pictures from your vacations because, let's face it, your friends are sick of hearing about it.
